In The Garden....

I know people question whether we have seasons in California,
....but I believe we do.

Our cooler winter weather has served my garden well.

The colors seem more intense.....
and cool weather annuals have thrived.

But with Spring soon approaching,
I am inspired to try some new things in my garden.

I have had little success with topiary....
but I am hoping Ivy will cover some forms
and feed my need for controlled shapes in the garden.

I am trying to work with both color and texture this year.

So far, the garden is looking very nice.

This was new for me too.
I bought some large baskets at a thrift shop....and used them for my Sweet Peas.

That way my mostly shade garden, can insure a sunny location for them to grow.
Using a WigWam was inspired by
my never ending fascination with UK garden shows.

A true sign that Spring is soon to arrive.

My Garden Boots are always at the ready by the back door....
and my Victoria Magazines are close by to provide inspiration.

I cannot wait to see how my garden grows!!!

Tis the Season....

Our days will be busy.....
celebrating and enjoying our Super Sports Stars.

Little ones to cuddle as we watch the game....

...and holding Grampies hand as we leave the ballfield.

Clare is our Soccer Girl....

Practicing kicks......

....and getting a "well done" hug from her sweet sister!!!

Looking forward to lots of time with the little ones,
and enjoying their sports activities.

Almost Spring Tea Party.....

There is nothing more fun than a tea party.
Even more so when the hostess is my adorable 95 year old Mom.

This one was inspired by Spring....
with the table set with my Mom's lovely dishes.

Lots of sweets to be enjoyed....

...and the dearest ladies to spend an afternoon with.

Lets do it again very soon.

My Favorite Double Birthday......

What is more fun than a birthday......TWO birthdays!!!

Clare was born on Jonathan's birthday eight years ago.
This eight year old seemed
to enjoy sharing her special day.

There were presents to open....

....and yes Clare is as sweet as sunshine!!!

Cousins enjoyed the sunshine and delicious barbeque in the garden.

The cake was the most incredible hit!!!

Always great to have a cousin to help blow out the candles!!!

A sign that I am out of touch with what kids want nowadays.

Clare wished for this special egg....
that pecks open and reveals
a special friend to nurture and enjoy.

Clare seemed very happy.
Grampie and I were a bit confused.

The Birthday Girl was all smiles.

Hard to  believe this is my baby boy!!!
He has grown into a man I admire and love so much.

Happy Birthday Clare and Jonathan.

Much loved always....and you are both a gift in our lives.

Feeling SEW Inspired.....

I have been on quiliting overdrive!!!!

A combination of cold weather keeping me out of the garden,
finding my sewing room nice and cozy,
and the gift of some lovely fabrics from a dear student.

I used her lovely fabrics to
combine my love of quilting and garden .

The front porch is ready for Spring!

This fabric is a purchase from a year ago.

In my quest to be MINDFUL,
I am finding great joy in using what I find in my stash.

I must share that my love of this fabric
meant I bought more than I should have.....

...but now I am able to create
a collection of quilts that we will enjoy.

This was such fun to sew and quilt..... was this collection of four stars using this sweet collection.

This one was my favorite....

....until I worked on this one last night.
Must say it has stolen my heart.

This large quilt still needs to be quilted.....
and with the weather continuing to be BRRRR,
I will happily stay nestled in my sewing room.

I do not have to worry about lack of  inspriration any time soon.
Just this week another much loved student
gifted me with these adorable fabrics from her stash.

I am seeing lots of garden inspired quilts in my future.
Quilt on!!!!

Birthday Season....

I might have seemed a bit absent....but I have a great excuse.
We are deep into Birthday Season.
It has been a joyous and very busy time.

 Our Donovan turned seven....

Our adorable Taylor turned ONE!!!

...and Jim just got a year older ( G ) !!!

Our birthday boy requested his favorite meal....steak and corn on the cob.
Even without all of his teeth he enjoyed every bite.

He enjoyed his gifts too.
He is most interested in being a photographer just like his Grampie.

With eyes tightly closed, he waited for his birthday surprises.

Pretty sure he was excited with his new golf clubs the most!!!

With sweet hugs for his Oma Oma....

....and his adorable Grammie, this dear boy was beyond excited
 to celebrate this wonderful occasion.

It hardly seems possible our darling Taylor is ONE!!!

Just beggining to take some steps,
she seemed to enjoy her special day very much.

Of course I had to make her a birthday quilt just like
the other Grands have.

She was all smiles....

...but a bit uncertain about her Birthday Cupcake.

A tiny taste and she was done.

More fun were the birthday balloons.

An adorable Hein tradition of tying wishes on the strings....
and letting them soar toward the Heavens.

Certain that means all wishes come true!!!

This adorable family melts my heart.

Birthday presents were enjoyed....

...and then we were onto Birthday Celebration Number Three!!!

Meghan surprised her Dad by making the most incredible Paella Dinner.
Jim couldn't have been happier with any other present.

Even our little Donovan turned gourmet
and enjoyed the mussels most of all.

Or I should say enjoyed the CAKE!!!!

An incredible confection from the Dease family recipe book.

Layers of cake, layers of meringue, and slathered in a Mocha Frosting.
What is not to LOVE!!!

Even though it was not Miss Emmerson's birthday season...
she seemed to enjoy it all the same.

You would think we have had enough birthdays,
but this weekend we celebrate Clare and her Daddy.

Never enough cake.....never enough joy to share.
